Strawberry Dumplings w/ Whipped Cream | Snack
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sifted, all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- ~2 cups strawberries, hulled and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Heavy cream
- 3 tablespoon sugar
Directions
- In saucepan, combine 1/3 cup sugar and water, bring to boil
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes
- Stir in vanilla extract
- In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt
- Cut in butter with fork or hands until mixture is crumbly
- Add milk and stir until dry ingredients are moistened
- Cut strawberries into bitesize peices and place strawberries in dish
- Pour hot sugar mixture over strawberries
- Drop dough evenly over strawberries
- Sprinkle dumplilngs with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar
- Bake at 450 for 25 to 30 minutes, or until dumplings are lightly browned
- Pour heavy cream into mixing bowl
- Add 3 tablespoon sugar into heavy cream
- With electronic mixing device, stir on full speed until whipped cream is made
- Top dumplings with whipped cream and serve
