Strawberry Dumplings w/ Whipped Cream | Snack

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sifted, all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • ~2 cups strawberries, hulled and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoon sugar

Directions

  1. In saucepan, combine 1/3 cup sugar and water, bring to boil
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes
  3. Stir in vanilla extract
  4. In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt
  5. Cut in butter with fork or hands until mixture is crumbly
  6. Add milk and stir until dry ingredients are moistened
  7. Cut strawberries into bitesize peices and place strawberries in dish
  8. Pour hot sugar mixture over strawberries
  9. Drop dough evenly over strawberries
  10. Sprinkle dumplilngs with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar
  11. Bake at 450 for 25 to 30 minutes, or until dumplings are lightly browned
  12. Pour heavy cream into mixing bowl
  13. Add 3 tablespoon sugar into heavy cream
  14. With electronic mixing device, stir on full speed until whipped cream is made
  15. Top dumplings with whipped cream and serve
